HIA Certification Guidelines

To receive HIA Certification, the student must complete HIA's core curriculum and successfully demonstrate the practical application of his or her knowledge of Astrology.
The core curriculum consists of all 100, 200, and 300 level courses, and at least four 400 level courses from those offered. (**See course descriptions below.)
Course equivalents for the 100-level courses may be applied toward certification if:
    1) Knowledge of basic course content has been successfully demonstrated in advanced classes, OR

    2) Course completion with other institutions is verified in writing from previous instructor or program director of previous study.

Although a written evaluation is not required for HIA Certification, the program prepares the student to pass such certification exams offered by the major astrological organizations, such as NCGR, AFA, and AFAN.

Practical application of the tool of astrology is demonstrated by interpretive skills evident in advanced classes and workshops. All 200, 300, and 400 level courses incorporate activities in which students will practice synthesis, delineation and interpretation of the horoscope.
