Jupiter

Jupiter -- The Archetype of "The Teacher/Seeker of Truth, or The Principle of Expansion", ruler of the sign Sagittarius. Jupiter symbolizes that character within each of us who seeks to grow beyond our current state of consciousness/ awareness. When asked, "What is it that you want?", Jupiter's answer is simply, "MORE". Since the impetus for this growth is usually the larger social conditions, beyond personal home and family, which surround us, Jupiter is considered a "social force" within one's psyche. Jupiter relates to our capacity to envision potential before it is made manifest, and to our ability to experience the "foreign", or previously unknown realms, in order to broaden and universalize our understanding. It represents the Pilgrim in each of us who needs and is willing to travel beyond current limits of understanding in order to find a greater truth that "works for me". Like the Sun, Jupiter is evolutionary in nature, ideally aspiring to ever greater levels of "Truth". If it gets stuck along the way, the darker side of Jupiter becomes a personal and inflexible dogma, and individual growth is stunted.
