The Nodes 

North Node -- Mathematical point which symbolizes the Soul's New Direction of pursuit this time around, sharing qualities of The Sun and Jupiter. The North Node, by house and sign, represents the path you must travel to achieve a sense of fulfillment and success in your life. It often feelslike a "risky" path or direction, and therefore requires personal courage and self-confidence to pursue, but ultimately it is this direction which yields one's greatest sense of accomplishment in life.

South Node -- Mathematical point which symbolizes the Soul's previous experience/mastery, and possibly addiction, if not properly channeled through the North Node, sharing qualities of The Moon and Saturn. The South Node, always opposite to the North Node by sign and house, represents the "path of least resistance" and where we retreat in times/situations of insecurity or fear. Symbolically, you have already mastered this path or way of being, and it does not serve your personal evolution to remain here. Ideally, we find ways to channel the mastery inherent in the South Node through the new experience of the North Node. Although "comfortable", the South Node can take on addictive qualities which ultimately impede that sense of accomplishment available by moving in the other direction.
