Pluto

Pluto -- The Archetype of "The Sorceress / Goddess of Death and Rebirth or The Transformer / Regenerator, ruler of the sign Scorpio. Pluto represents that character within us who is willing to die in order to be reborn, not a pleasant process for lightweights! Like the caterpillar, which must completely dissolve into nothingness in order to emerge as the butterfly, Pluto represents the need to surrender to a process which requires that we let go of and release all that we know, including our judgments, in order to grow into something about which we haven't a clue. This requires an awakened Uranus (willingness to change in defiance of stagnation) and a fully realized Neptune (absolute faith in unseen forces), which is why Pluto is the third of the three outer planets. Pluto also relates to our experience of power, when defined as self-mastery and absolute connection to "higher self". Plutonian expressions of power require a consciousness which has moved beyond the judgment of "good" and "evil". They may appear to be heinous or divine, but they are always transformational in nature. Although our human capacity to understand this principle grows with each generation since the discovery of Pluto in 1930, this character requires great personal awareness and conscious respect for healthy integration within the psyche.
