Saturn 

Saturn -- The Archetype of "The Authority / Definer of Reality or Establisher of Form", ruler of the sign Capricorn. Saturn represents that character within each of us who seeks to be the definer of one's own reality, as well as the master (authority) of that principle in our lives. Since "reality" poses certain limitations, both personal and social, Saturn represents our capacity to live responsibly within the confines of the "real world" as it is currently defined by Self and Society. Unlike Jupiter, often paired with Saturn as its polar opposite, Saturn's principle is, "LESS IS MORE" (and sometimes even better). Saturn is often called "The Lord of Karma" based on the idea that each of us is born with certain gifts and certain limitations. The wise sage in each of us knows how to develop and capitalize on the gifts, and achieve a level of mastery based on hard work and discipline. If one only focuses on the limitations, and those desires which can never be fulfilled, the darker side of Saturn becomes the harsh victim of an eternally harsh reality, depression, and frustration.
